Dividend Runs
Calculate, approve, and pay dividends to every member — with full support for reinvestment, charitable donation, and BACS export.
Accurate calculations, automatically
CBSMembers calculates each member's dividend entitlement based on their share class, the number of shares held, the interest rate for that class, and — crucially — the exact number of days those shares were held within the dividend period. Members who joined or withdrew mid-year receive the correct pro-rata amount without any manual spreadsheet work.
You define the period (typically a financial year), set the rate per share class, and CBSMembers does the rest. The full workings are visible for every member so you can verify the numbers before approving.
Four payment preferences
Members can choose how their dividend is paid. CBSMembers tracks the preference per member and handles all four correctly in every run:
Paid directly to the member's nominated bank account. CBSMembers exports a BACS-format CSV ready to upload to your bank's payment portal.
The dividend is converted into new shares. CBSMembers calculates the number of shares to issue, creates the certificates, and updates the share register automatically.
Listed separately in the run output for manual cheque production. Name, address, and amount are all included.
The member donates their dividend back to the society. Tracked separately in the run output so the total donated amount is clearly recorded.
Approval workflow
A dividend run moves through four stages:
The run exists but no calculation has been run. Set the period, rate, and parameters here before proceeding.
Calculations have been run and saved. Review the per-member figures in full. You can recalculate as many times as needed before approving.
The figures are locked. Statements become available to members on the portal. The run can no longer be edited — only voided if something has gone seriously wrong.
The run has been cancelled after approval. Share certificates issued for reinvestment are reversed. Used only as a last resort.
Exports
A payment file in the standard UK BACS format, ready to upload directly to your bank. Contains account number, sort code, amount, and reference for every BACS-preference member.
A full summary of the run — all members, all preferences, all amounts. Use it for your own records, your accountant, or board reporting.
A PDF statement for every member showing their shareholding, the calculation, and the amount paid. Automatically stored to the member portal for self-service download. Can also be emailed or printed for postal distribution.
